What is DentaTEMP?

Learn what eggshell provisionals are and why they’re a game-changer for temporary restorations.

Overview

DentaTEMP, previously known as DentalTwin4Temporaries, are thin-walled temporary crowns or bridges, typically 0.3–0.6 mm in thickness, created before tooth preparation based on an intraoral scan of the current clinical situation.

They are digitally designed and ready for 3D printing or milling, allowing a seamless, efficient workflow for temporary restorations.

Key Features

  • Thin-walled design – like an eggshell, providing space for filling material.
  • Pre-operative fabrication – ready before the preparation appointment.
  • Custom fit – based on the patient’s current dentition scan.
  • Pontics pre-formed – minimal to no adjustments needed before placement.

How They’re Made

  • An intraoral scan is taken before preparation, extraction, or implantation.
  • The scan is uploaded to DentalTwin with the case specifications.
  • Our AI-driven setup generates the provisional design.
  • The STL file is ready for direct 3D printing or milling in-house or via a milling centre.

Clinical Application

  1. Print or mill the eggshell provisional before the appointment.
  2. Fill the interior with self-curing composite.
  3. Seat directly on prepared or unprepared dentition.
  4. Temporarily cement — minimal chairside work required.

Benefits Over Conventional Mock-ups

  • Available before tooth preparation.
  • Digitally fabricated for precision fit.
  • Reduces chairside time and stress.
  • Reusable for adjustments or retreatments.
