Is DentalTwin Suitable for Complete Dentures?
Understand the limitations of using DentalTwin for fully edentulous workflows.
Overview
DentalTwin is designed primarily for implant-prosthetic planning and tooth setup in cases with remaining dentition.
At this time, DentalTwin is not suitable for fully edentulous jaws requiring complete dentures.
Why Not Complete Dentures?
- DentalTwin’s AI requires reference teeth to establish occlusion and anatomical positioning.
- In a fully edentulous jaw, no reference points are available.
- This makes automated reconstruction of occlusion and tooth setup unreliable.
Supported Alternatives
- Partially edentulous jaws – DentalTwin works if at least 2 teeth per jaw remain before extraction.
- Immediate implant cases – IO scans taken before extraction provide the needed landmarks.
When Complete Dentures Are Needed
For complete denture workflows, traditional methods or other dedicated software solutions are required, as DentalTwin currently focuses on:
- Shell temporaries
- CAD design setups
- Implant planning wax-ups
Future Development
DentalTwin is continuously evolving.
While complete dentures are not currently supported, expanded functionality for edentulous workflows will be developed in the future.
